GlasshouseCountryToastmastersGlasshouse Country Toastmasters![]() Join us at Glasshouse Country Toastmasters “For Mountains of Fun and Peak Performances” which was the theme from our last contest. About ToastmastersToastmasters International is a world wide organisation with many, many clubs in Australia. You will find one of them in the Beerwah Library, Peachester Road Beerwah. Our meetings are held every second and fourth Thursday of each month from 9.00am for a 9.30am start till 11.30am ![]() What exactly is “Toastmasters”Do you sometimes wish that you could really express a very strong opinion in a very clear and concise manner? Perhaps you often wish you had a quick quip as a reply to a question? What about being able to rise to your feet no matter where you are, in front of a gathering and spin a most outrageous yarn? Perhaps, though, you would really like to be able to follow a club meeting and know who does what and when you can address the floor and have your say about the matter under discussion. Well my friends, Toastmasters Club is the place to come. At toastmasters club meetings we don’t sit there and crumble bits of toast into cups of tea or raise a glass of water and learn how to correctly propose a toast to someone…… No.. Not us.. In a very jovial atmosphere with the help of fellow members we learn how to handle all the above situations. You may have been visiting the Beerwah library on our meeting days, second (2nd) and fourth (4th) Thursday morning of the month and heard the loud laughter issuing from the annex room. Enjoying ourselves whilst on a learning curve which benefits every facet of or lives is the name of the game. When you can easily communicate with others, your whole life takes a turn for the better. You feel so good in yourself… YES!!! I’m not nervous when I’m with a crowd…I’m as good as any one here… YES!!! I can give my opinion and meet anyone, eye to eye,no matter where I am… Come and join us, be a TOASTMASTER, and open the door to great communication with others. Why join Toastmasters![]() Is this what happens to you when someone wants you to stand up and give a speech. When you know what you want to say, but don’t know how to say it or when you have to give an answer but can’t think, right at that split moment. I know how you feel! That is how I was 12 months ago when I thought I would be shifting to another state. It was frightening and I panicked. Then I remembered someone talking about Toastmasters and I thought to myself, "I must give that a go." When I walked into the room with fear and trepidation I was immediately welcomed and felt relaxed. Now I am up there with the best of them, having a go at Table Topics, happy to do a speech and have even competed in a competition. What a change in my life Toastmasters has been ! The Glasshouse Country Toastmasters - is a fun organization. We are not a rigid Club that will bore you to tears. In a friendly supporting environment we learn skills that are within us, but just need setting free. We learn to think on our feet, communicate, listen effectively and speak confidently. So what have you got to loose? Come for a visit. We meet every second and fourth Thursday of the month between 9.15am and 11.30 am. At the Beerwah Library. Peachester Road Beerwah You don’t have to worry about husband or children. Escape from it all for a couple of hours. The word is out. From a member: I decided to join Toastmasters and was concerned about making a complete fool of myself. Nothing could be further from the truth. I was welcomed with open arms and encouraged to achieve at my own speed. Many people think toastmasters to be a rigid club, full of rules and business matters. I had it all wrong, we laugh a lot and the thing that surprised me is that you really learn to listen. Since I have been a member, I have been taken to London with the bombs dropping in the night during the WW2 by a survivor, I have been engrossed in hilarious poems, been drawn into wildlife in our back yards and have gone into another world, when our members gave interpretive readings. All this plus you get to know a lot of really nice people. Pretty good for two and a half hours twice a month. Come along if you can, you wouldn’t be disappointed Over the last 6 years Toastmasters from our Club have with great success conducted Speechcraft courses at all the Primary Schools in the area, with many schools including this course in their curriculum. We have entertained the clients at HACC in Peachester, which was very well received. To give the community a better idea of what Toastmasters is all about we will conduct a 6 week speechcraft course in the Beerwah High School, starting on the 11th of August from 9..00am till 10.30am. For information please call us one for the following members Kerry 5493 0650 Martine 5496 9855 Jenny 5439 0066 On September 18 we will organize a speech fest in the Library again, something not to be missed. Open for members and the public. |
