What use is it to pile task on task and prolong the days of labour, if at the close the chief object is left unattained? It is not the fault of the teachers - they work only too hard already. The combined folly of a civilization that has forgotten its own roots is forcing them to shore up the tottering weight of an educational structure that is built upon sand. They are doing for their pupils the work which the pupils themselves ought to do. For the sole true end of education is simply this: to teach men how to learn for themselves; and whatever instruction fails to do this is effort spent in vain.

World Air Ticket Landed This Couple in Beerwah

When British parents Tony and Irene Sacre gave their son a round-the-world air ticket 11 years ago it set up a chain of events which landed them in Beerwah and a new role in life.

Tony and Irene now own the Beerwah Hideaway bed and breakfast which specialises in wedding ceremonies and receptions – a real seachange from their commercial interior fit-out business in the UK and northern Europe.

The Hideaway, at 1233 Steve Irwin Way (formerly Glasshouse Mountains Road) provides a luxury B&B for couples plus private or company functions and complete wedding packages ranging from a garden ceremony to the reception and honeymoon suite including breakfast overlooking the tropical gardens.

In 1995, Tony and Irene who had never considered travelling to Australia, gave their son, Lee the air ticket for his 21st. During a stopover in Canada, Lee met Tracey from the Sunshine Coast and the end result, three years later, was their wedding at Golden Beach, with Tony and Irene on the way to Australia to join in the celebration.

During their stay, the British couple had a good look around the coast and range area and decided to sell up in the UK and settle in Australia. which led to the purchase of their Beerwah property five years ago.
